Grate Shaking

The graphs below explore the effect of grate shaking on the pressure ratio and temperatures in the reactor.

t=0 is at a grate shaking event. 52 shaking events are looked at here. The lines graph the relative change in pressure ratio for each event (1 at t=0). Boxplots show the distribution across the 52 events at a given time. The red line shows the median value of all the lines.

A key take away from this graph is that shaking the grate is not productive. Here we see that it takes about 60 seconds for the shaking to create the maximum improvement in pressure ratio (higher is better).
