Densities of Common Gasses

Page history last edited by jim mason 14 years, 8 months ago

Summary of the important ones for gasification, at 20C and 1atm.

(from Engineering Toolbox: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/gas-density-d_158.html )

CO = 1.165kg/m3

H2 = .0899kg/m3

N2 = 1.165kg/m3

CH4 = 0.668kg/m3

CO2 = 1.8421kg/m3

O2 = 1.331kg/m3

Air Density = 1.205kg/m3

1 m3 = 1.205 kg

1 kg = 0.8299 m3

Wood Gas Density (calculated assuming 20% CO, 20% H2, 60% N2) = 0.950kg/m3

1m3 = .950kg

1kg = 1.053m3

Ratio of AirDensity : WoodGasDensity = 1.205 : 0.950

                                              = 1.27 : 1    or   1 : 0.79
