The Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) wiki sandbox

This wiki is to support collaboration and iterative development of the Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) from ALL Power Labs.  General infomation about the kit is on the main GEK site.   Here in the wiki we're creating a sandbox for community contributed run reports, fuel tests, GEK improvement ideas, raw science, practical engineering, and other topics of interest for gasifier geeks.

The wiki is open for any contributions and/or edits you would like to offer.  We hope you will join us for the GEK experiment in collaborative science and open source engineering.

What's New, as of February 27

There’s a lot happening with All Power Labs and the GEK these days.  Click here for the new news, and compiled links to recent site updates.

How to Build and Run the GEK Gasifier

Complete instructions for fabricating, assembling and running the GEK gasifier.  CAD drawings, plumbing inventories, hearth dimensions, and associated support material is provided in detail.  If you have purchsed a Level III or Level IV GEK kit, look here for all instructions and part inventories relating to your kit.

GEK User Pages and Run Reports

See what the community is doing with the GEK.  Here you'll find user profiles, photos, videos, as well as run reports from various installations.  Installations range from raw test beds to practical installations in heat, shaft power, and electrical generation.

GEK Improvements, Add-ons, and Customizations

Proposed and/or implemented hearth mods, tar recycling systems, filter improvements, automated start up, auger fuel feeding, etc, etc, etc.  See here for the list of what is coming, what is hoped for in the future, and and what you can add right now to make your GEK bigger, better, faster, stronger . . .

Raw Science: Biomass Thermal Conversion

High value charts, papers, standards and other data relating to all aspects of Drying, Pyrolysis, Combustion and Reduction.

Practical Engineering: Best Practices to Implement the Raw Science

Physical machines, tools, materials and dimensions to realize desired performance in Drying, Pyrolysis, Combustion and Reduction.

Electronics: Instrumentation, sensing and control

The GEK gasifier control unit open source module.  How to install thermocouples, pressure sensors, tar testers, flow meters, etc

For the "static" general project information, see main GEK site.
