The Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) wiki sandbox

Pushing wood gas beyond the Imbert

This wiki is to support collaboration and iterative development of the Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) from ALL Power Labs.  General information about the kit is on the main GEK info site.  General discussion about the GEK is in the GEK discussion forum.   The wiki is our archived knowledge-base of configuration specifics, add-ons and upgrades, run reports, raw science, practical engineering, and other topics of interest for gasifier geeks.

The wiki is open for any contributions and/or edits you would like to offer.  We hope you will join us for the GEK experiment in collaborative science and open source engineering.  To get our email updates, click here and fill in the blanks.

What's New with the GEK

There’s a lot happening with All Power Labs and the GEK these days.  Click here for the new news and a compiled list of recent site updates.

How to Build and Run the GEK Gasifier

Complete instructions for fabricating, assembling and running the GEK gasifier.  If you've purchased any level GEK kit, here's all the info relating to your kit.

GEK User Pages and Run/Test Reports

From anecdotal observations, to full instrumentation and analysis.  See the GCU in action and the data it produces.

GEK Improvements, Add-ons, and Customizations

Proposed and/or implemented hearth mods, tar recycling systems, filter improvements, automated start up, auger fuel feeding, etc, etc.

Biomass Fuels: Their Characteristics and Preparations

Exploring the wide variety of biomass particulars, and the many ways to deal with the resulting problems.

Raw Science: Drying, Pyrolysis, Combustion and Reduction

Mass flow and energy balance modelling.  Rection kinetics, gas equilibrium charts, mass properties, and other raw data of relevance.

Practical Engineering: Best Practices to Implement the Raw Science

Physical machines, tools, materials and dimensions to realize desired performance in Drying, Pyrolysis, Combustion and Reduction.

Instrumentation, Testing and Electronic Automation

How to install thermocouples, pressure sensors, tar testers, flow meters, etc.  Using the GEK "Gasifier Control Unit" (GCU) electronics module.

General Resouces
